A recent widow, Kathy took on the new adventure of moving into a Waukesha senior living community with her friends

Meet Kathy, Resident at New Perspective Waukesha

Kathy knew she wanted to move to a senior living community in Waukesha, Wisconsin so that she could be closer to her friends. After feeling an instant connection while touring the assisted living and independent living apartments at New Perspective, she quickly jumped on the opportunity to move in. Since moving in, Kathy has been an active participant in activities such as joining outings to local attractions, participating in the community’s first annual Quilt Show, and enjoying dinners with her friends.

Below is a letter from Kathy to those considering the move to assisted living or independent living.

A letter from Kathy to those interested in senior living

“Back in April, at age 69 and a widow of six months, I decided to move from my small apartment into my “forever home,” into another apartment. With this in mind, the search began. I also wanted to change my location to Waukesha, Wisconsin. Several of my lady friends live in that area, so we took a ride looking for what was available.

After checking out several apartment complexes and finding them full with no future openings, we thought we might come up empty. Just as an afterthought—which should have been our first thought—we decided to check out New Perspective, a brand-new complex with many new, never-lived-in residences in Waukesha. Wow, what a blessed surprise. We looked at one of each of the available apartments. When we walked into the apartment I now live in, I knew without a doubt this is where I would very happily move.

Having made that decision, I put things in place as fast as I could to make this all happen. After I moved in and got settled, I started to study the monthly event calendar and read the monthly newsletter from cover to cover. Another wow. Anything you can think of to do, they do here. And if they don’t, they will start doing it. With winter moving in, I know I never have to clean off my car again (underground parking) and I never have to go out for anything if I chose not to. New Perspective is as inclusive as can be.

I share these thoughts with you because I know when you move, it is very important to talk to a resident of the location before you make your final decision. It can be very overwhelming to move, and I found a wealth of residential and team member support. We care about each other and assist in making the transition a little easier.

If you decide to take a New Perspective tour, do not hesitate to stop a resident and test the waters. You might find yourself making this your new forever home. Winter is never a good time to move, so check out New Perspective soon. You will not regret the time spent here.”
